See the whole group move, not just where it started.
A planned route tells you where you're going. It doesn't tell you where your riding buddy actually is right now. Live group tracking is the part of Tornanty that closes that gap — everyone sees the leader move, in real time, for as long as the ride lasts.
- How it works
The leader's dot, always current
Once a ride starts, the leader's device streams its position continuously to everyone following. There's no refresh button and nothing to poll — the leader's marker simply moves on your map as they ride.
- How it works
Directions that follow a moving target
Turn-by-turn directions point at wherever the leader is now, not where they were when the ride began. As soon as the leader has moved more than about 50 metres, your directions quietly recalculate toward their new position.
- How it works
You can still take your own line
Fell behind at a light, or peeled off for a photo? If you personally drift more than 100 metres from the current route, your own directions recalculate too — so a stop you make doesn't leave you staring at directions for a road you're no longer on.
Joining mid-ride works too
You don't need to be there at the start. A follower who joins after the group is already moving gets the ride's track history the moment they connect, so the map isn't blank — it shows where the group has already been, then picks up live from there.
No account needed to ride
Leading or following a live ride doesn't ask you to sign up for anything. Both roles get an anonymous identity the instant the app opens, which is all that's needed to broadcast or receive a position. That's a deliberate difference from the free planner at /plan — an account there is only for keeping a route across visits, never for riding together.
What happens when the ride ends
When the leader ends the ride, every follower's screen shows it immediately, and the complete GPS track from the whole ride is saved automatically to each rider's own history — no extra tap required. See saved tracks and GPX for what you can do with it afterward.
What if the leader loses signal?
The ride doesn't just stall. Read how leader failover keeps a group moving even when the person out front drops off the map, and how a sweep rider keeps the back of the group visible too.
